Victim Support line manager brands callers as mere 'attention seekers'

I contacted GMC witness support which is part of Victim support. I rang to discuss the case of the psychiatrist being investigated by the GMC for his treatment of me. A manager on this line informed me that most people who call their line are ‘attention seekers’ and after I had made a few calls to their line only in the space of 3 weeks, told me to ‘wind it back’ get off the line and stop calling as the lines were busy, despite having been told prior there were no limit on calls. The manager that dealt with the complaint was very professional and apologised for any distress caused by this explaining that the manager who took those calls was categorically in the wrong. I was impressed overall with how it was handled and with the ongoing support I have been offered being reassured that he will not take any more calls in future. Sad that hundreds of people calling victim support on a daily basis were branded by one of their managers as mere attention seekers.


however, due to the professional and helpful way they handled the situation overall I would still consider using their line in future.
